Both Blake Griffin and John Wall are off to impressive starts to their NBA careers. Griffin is averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds in his first 5 games and Wall is putting up averages of 23.7 points, 4 steal and 10.3 assists in his first 3 games thus far. Both have been impressive for sure. I think any NBA GM would love to start a franchise with either player, but because of the nature of the point guard position, I would have to pick Wall over Griffin. I like Griffin's more polished game and tenacity, but Wall's impact on the game is so much greater simply because the ball is always in his hands. Either way, both players should be fun to watch and collect.
What do you think? Which player would you rather start an NBA franchise with, Blake Griffin or John Wall?
Neither, I would take Durant - But if I have to Chose I would take Wall because I think Griffin will be injury prone.
ReplyDelete- John, I'm def not saying that either Wall or Griffin are better than Durant. I would certainly take Durant any day of the week. I just thought this would be a fun question with both players starting their careers the past few days.
ReplyDeleteI would take Griffin. Nothing against Wall, he's definitely a stud. It's hard to find a guy as big and as athletic as Blake Griffin. If I start a team with a player, it's gonna be a 2-3-4 or 5. I take grab the PG last. IMO the PG needs to be a passer not the scorer. I prefer a Stockton or Nash type.
ReplyDeleteGriffin has such amazing court vision for a big man. I haven't seen a forward grab rebounds and put it back in the hoop like this since Karl Malone or Charles Barkley. He's so much to watch. His only problem is that he's stuck on the Clippers.
I love Griffin's game too and I wish he was on my Knicks, but a PG has such a huge influence on a game. As great as Malone and Barkley were, true legends, but no titles. I think it's a tough question.

ReplyDeleteOkay... to answer your question... I'm picking Griffin. Two words... Heart & Passion. He has Heart... and plays with Passion.
- Mark, You're def right about Griffin's passion and heart. He does look like a beast out there. If he wants the rebound, he gets the rebound. I haven't been impressed with an Rookie player in a long time, but Griffin is def up there. I think Griffin is the better player, but Wall has such a huge effect on the outcome of the game. It's def tough. How bout my Knicks trade Eddie Curry for both. If former Knicks GM I. Thomas was the GM for both the Clippers and Wizards, I think we could work that trade out some how.

Between these two, I'd probably go Griffin, but that's probably because Wall helped beat my Tar Heels last year while Griffin looked human against Hansbrough in the NCAA tourney a few years back.
What can I say? I'm a college hoops fan.
