Should The Cavalier Fans & Organization Want Lebron Back?
I hate Lebron James just as much as the next guy, but there is no denying his talent on the basketball court. Even if he is the prince. So amid the recent developments of the past 24 hours, should Cav's fans and organization want Lebron back?
It's apparent the Cav's just don't know what they are doing when it comes to building a professional basketball team. I mean if it wasn't for winning the Lebron James lottery sweepstakes back in '03, the Cav's organization would not have played a meaningful game since the Mark Price days. They couldn't even put a decent team around LeBron when he was there (i.e. Mo Williams & Wally Szczerbiak). Let's be honest, the NBA wasn't Wally's world like the MAC may have been. So it's a pretty safe bet that whatever the Cav's end up doing in two years when Lebron can opt out of his contract will end up being the wrong decision. Just like The Decision was.
I would not want Lebron back if I was a fan or running the Cavaliers. Lebron will be 29 or 30 by the time he can opt out of his contract with the Miami Heat. This is by no means old in the NBA, but it's not the youngest either. Plus, the Cav's would have to basically throw the towel in on the next two and a half seasons. The NBA is a business and basically losing money for two and a half seasons it's really smart business, but they would probably lose money over the next two seasons regardless. So that argument is really mute. Basically, it comes down to the prince himself.
The fact that he hasn't shown up in big games and can't make decisions that he can live with is enough for me. The guy just doesn't know what he wants, and he should know what he wants. He should want to win. That's what he should be talking about. Not a Blake Griffin dunk or where he wants to play next. As the ever eccentric and late Al Davis said, "Just win baby". The prince is just not a winner. Not even in a watered down, fundamentally unsound and passionless NBA. Maybe D-Wade can help LeBron get on his stylish coattails.
I would just once like to see the fire and determination that the likes of Jordan, Zek, Bird and more showed for entire careers. That type of passion and intensity coupled with the most talented and gifted player in the Association one of the best of all time.
That's my take. However, I'm looking at the whole situation from a basketball sense. Money wise, he would bring in a few bucks for a number of years. Despite the Cavalier's inability to put a decent team around LeBron, Cleveland was rocking downtown on game nights. The upcoming NBA Draft should be a decent one and it might be best to end all the talk if the right player is there to couple with Kyrie Irving.
Those are my thoughts. What are yours? Should the Cleveland fans and Cavaliers organization want LeBron back?

Cleveland's "What Should I Do?" Response
Nike released a much talked about LeBron James TV commercial a couple of weeks ago. I thought the media coverage was a bit overblown, but that isn't anything over today's norm. The "What should I do" Nike commercial has sparked a new video that's making the rounds on YouTube. Rather than asking, "What Should I do?", how's about what do you think about this response from Cleveland fans?

Video: Anne Meara & Jerry Stiller On LeBron James
Episode 6: Basketball @ Yahoo! Video
(Third party and RSS feed readers, click here to view video/media)
I'm a huge fan of the Seinfeld and King of Queens television sitcoms. So when I saw that two of those show's alums did a short commentary on LeBron James, I had to watch. Hope you enjoy, there's a few funny moments in this approximately 2:30 video.
So what are your thoughts on LeBron James and "Team South Bitch"… I mean "Beach"? I thoroughly enjoyed the thrashing the Miami Warm took by the hands of the Celtics on opening night, and I look forward to their struggles this season. Boston looked like the better team, even though they're arguably not a better collection of talents. I know it'll be a season-long process down there in Miami to create some cohesion and get everyone to understand their roles, but it was nice to see them get off to a bad start. That's my take. What's yours?

Poll: Kobe Vs. Lebron
The NBA pre-season is well underway. There are a number of teams that went over seas to Europe to play a portion of their pre-season schedule. The L.A. Lakers being one of the more popular teams in the Association were part of that group. While in London, A reporter asked Kobe Bryant who would win a one-on-one contest between he and Lebron James. Kobe was stone cold in his response. I've embedded the above video into this post along with a poll to see what you think. Who would win in a one-on-one game up to 10, Kobe or Lebron?

And The Winner Is….
Congratulations to Mark over at sanjosefuji.com for winning the 2010 Court Kings LeBron James Masterpieces jersey card (Mark, make sure to email me a mailing address so I can get you the card. I'll be out of town all this week, so I'll try to get it out to you ASAP). There were eight total entries and the contest actually came down to the errors and home runs.
Thank you to all who participated. I hope this contest was fun. This was the first contest/giveaway I've done on Hoopography, and I'd like to do more. If companies like Panini continue to send me products for review, I'll continue to give cards away. Happy collecting and… "Enjoy Every Bounce of the Ball".

2010 Court Kings LeBron James Masterpieces Jersey Contest/Giveaway
Panini sent me a box of 2010 Court Kings for review and I thought it'd be fun to have a contest to giveaway a really nice LeBron James Masterpieces Jersey card that I pulled from said box. You can read my review by clicking here or checking out the Hoopography homepage. It was difficult to think of a fun basketball contest to giveaway a basketball card. After all, the NBA regular season doesn't start for a couple of months and the NBA Summer League just concluded over the weekend. So I thought I'd take a look at what the boys of summer had to offer. In particular, a nationally televised game. It turns out the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs will be facing off on ESPN at 8:00 PM ET this Sunday the 25th. So the contest for the James card will be to guess the box score of the game for both teams.

The Rules and Tie Breakers:
Rules:
- Guess the Runs, Hits, Errors, &, Home Runs for both Cardinals and Cubs
- Have your entry posted to the comments section of this post no later then 11:59 pm ET. of this Saturday, July 24th (entries received on Sunday will not be counted)
- One entry per participant.
- If you do not have a verified account (meaning: Google Account, Wordpress Account, Blogger Account, Open Id, etc., you will need to email me at hoopography@yahoo.com so I can make sure unverified participants do not submit multiple entries).
- You must submit a guess for each category (runs, hits, errors & home runs) for both teams for a total of eight answers (note example image at end of post).
- The winner will have to email me their address at hoopography@yahoo.com when the contest is over so I can send them their prize.
- Although not required, placing a link to this contest on your blog or forum will help make the contest more fun and help to spur-on networking amongst collectors (which is the ultimate goal of Hoopography).
- The tiebreakers work as follows: Who ever guesses the final score of the game for both teams wins (not combined score, but the actually final score between the two teams). If there are multiple submissions with the correct final score of the game, we will go to correct amount of hits for each team. If there is still a tie, we will go to errors. Finally, if there is still a tie after guessing the correct final score of the game, hits for each team and errors for each team, we'll look at home runs for each team. I will use ESPN's website to obtain the box score to compare submissions.
- Please Note: I do realize the contest is inherently flawed. For example, there is a chance we could have a tie after the hits category and no one guessed the amount of errors right. That would mean we would have multiple participants who guessed the runs and hits right, but no one who guessed the errors right. In that scenario, we would go on to the next category of home runs. If there is still a tie, I would put the remaining participants in a randomizer. I'm hoping that someone will guess the box score correctly so I do not have to use the randomizer. So good luck and happy guessing!
Tie Breakers:
- Final score/runs of the game for each team
- Final amount of hits for each team
- Final amount of errors for each team
- Final amount of home runs for each team
- Randomizer.org
